Overview

Compact links through a focused API

ShortenURL is a lightweight URL shortening service built with .NET 8 and ASP.NET Core. It converts long URLs into compact codes and resolves those codes back to the original destination through redirects.

A layered design

The solution follows Clean Architecture, separating domain entities and business rules from application use cases, infrastructure adapters, and the Web API entry point. The application layer organizes use cases around CQRS and ports.

Configurable and easy to explore

The base URL and generated code length are configurable. An in-memory repository supports development, while the README describes EF Core persistence as optional.

Analytics, link expiration, rate limiting, and vanity URLs are listed as planned extensions in the repository.
